(Potluckin Like'a Pro) Drink: Festive Storm
The best thing about a potluck is the amazing food ideas one comes up with using their own magic in a kitchen. I love seeing how people get creative- and what they feel is presentable when feeding others. As a host, it is very easy to sit back and allow others to do the labor around food. You just have to make sure your space is presentable, maybe have a couple of dishes (e.g., snacks, main dish or dessert), and some drinks-- that's it, that's all! Since this isn’t a lifestyle blog, I will not give my tips for home prep during the holidays, but I will slide you my favorite dark rum creation. I call it Festive Storm.
Money Matters
I spent about $30 for all of the ingredients. You can get 6-8 drinks from this recipe, so under $5 a drink.
#ROGUElyfe
I used ginger beer, to get a Dark and Stormy feel, but you can use club soda or ginger ale for the bubbly.
I love pomegranate in the winter because it is in season. But you could use blood orange, cranberry, etc. Any fruit that is in season would do the trick.
I tend to make individual drinks instead of punches, but you can make a big batch and let chill before the party. Add the bubbly part after you have poured individual glasses.
My Recipe
1 part dark rum
1 part pomegranate juice
Juice of half small lime
Splash of ginger beer
Pomegranate seeds for garnish
1-2 slices of lime
Ice
Directions
In your glass of choice, pour in the rum, pomegranate, and lime juice. Stir, then add ice.
Add a splash of ginger beer, and garnish with lime and seeds. Serve and enjoy!
Happy Coo--Drinking Responsibly during the Holidays (and all the other days too) Y’all :)
